Bulbs in bloom

Is it normal to get excited when a box of bulbs is delivered to your door? When I was a little girl, it was my dream to one day have my own garden filled with brightly coloured fragrant flowers. I used to order gardening catalogues through the post and imagine which flowers I’d choose to plant. Well, this Spring my dreams finally came true!Planting fragrant Freesias and pink Ranunculus in July earlier this year

And we wait… I watered my terracotta pots and garden beds daily. I also fed my bulbs with a liquid booster every 2 weeks.

Yay! Little seedling shoots!

These will be my first Tulips and Daffodils

Then in Spring I also planted Violes, Pansies and Poppies into terracotta pots that I’ve been saving for this very occasion.

We love our new garden!

Elleski goes retro

You know how I just looove to dress up, for any occasion, well last night I went retro for a 1950’s soirée. A piece of cake considering most of my wardrobe is vintage inspired! The best part of a dress-up party is getting dressed! This is what I wore and how I got there.

A slick of liquid liner, followed by loads of lashes.

Curling my Bettie Page bangs

Pin-up girl hair inspired by Patty Simcox from Grease

Pearls, lots of pretty pearls!

A high waisted floral skirt with a neat cream blouse

My classic Vivienne Westwood heels

Finished with a classic trench and ready to party!

The day we moved in

About 2 years ago, we moved into our family holiday house in the country. I remember mum and I being so board waiting for the furniture to arrive, we started mucking around with my little digital camera. I set it up on the kitchen bench top facing the empty lounge room and snapped the entire process of us moving in. We continued happy snapping with the same camera in the same spot for one whole year! This is what we made.

My edible garden

Last weekend, Cherry, me and the family went to our place in the country. The weather was spectacular so we decided to replant last Summer’s veggie garden.

Before… Summer 2010

After…Spring 2011

We planted Red Russian kale, rainbow chard, sweet strawberries, broccolini, sweet peas, dill, basil and coriander.

Filling up old wine barrels with potting mix

Then we played with the horsies!
