Thanx @Ladro #Gfree pizza!

I got a strange message the other day from my food blogging friend, Jen Curcio @Decisive Cravings, telling me to check my Twitter account. Ladro had sent out a Tweet inviting their twitter followers to a gluten free pizza taste testing sitting that night at their Prahran restaurant! OMG yumo-licious! So Jen and I tweeted back with an RSVP for us, Cherry and Cherry’s Daddy.

Love the menu! It reminds me of the vintage photos of my Nana Nina

Elle’s special gluten + dairy free pizza – Tomato, basil, capers. Delicious!

There were 10 of us guinea pigs tasting 2 different gluten free pizza bases

Ladro “Which base did you like Elle?”
Elle “I liked the first one because it reminded me of my grandma’s Russian potato latkas”

An indulgent feast!

Most weekends Cherry, me and the family escape Melbourne city and head down to our holiday house to relax, unwind and eat way too much! On Sunday nights we usually say “we’re all going on a healthy diet starting tomorrow morning!”

A couple of weekends ago we invited over a few friends for an indulgent feast. This is what we made…

Yummy dukkah & fresh olive oil from Foxeys Hangout Winery in Red Hill

Local Flinders tomatoes with mint leaves hand picked from our garden.
Rainbow ribbon pasta with Mornington Peninsula basil infused olive oil.
Local organic asparagus with preserved artichoke roses.

We’re so lucky that our place is just a short drive from a beautiful town called Red Hill. Mum and I love driving there as we think it’s the best place to shop for groceries and pantry essentials. Our favourite one stop shop is Cellar Pantry. We’re weekend regulars there and let me just say it’s a foodies paradise! This is where we shop - 141 Shoreham Road, Red Hill South – 5989 2411

Cheese glorious cheese!

Cheeses from around the globe

Fresh, daily baked artisan breads

All the cold cuts you could possibly think of!

Organic fruit and veggies. You have got to try the Flinders tomatoes. They are the best tomatoes  you will ever taste!

Beautiful pastas imported from Italy

Owners Jo and Dee have just opening a Mediterranean & Middle eastern cafe in Dromana – Dee’s Kitchen. Defiantly worth checking out!

Sorry Cherry, you can’t eat them!

Porcelain Ginger flower… UNBELIEVABLY BRILLIANT!!

Crab Claw Flower. Fascinating!

Port Douglas Sunday Market + Giveaway!

We’ve just arrived home from our first family holiday with little miss Cherry. We spent 10 days swimming, shopping, walking and relaxing up in tropical Port Douglas, Queensland. One of the highlights of our trip was exploring the local Sunday Market. These are my personal top 6 favourite stalls for Cherry and me.

Tropical clothing by Betty Adams – 0418 215 706I had to resist temptation to buy Cherry the red and white polka-dot dress as I think she might be getting sick of them by now! So, we chose the purple polka-dots instead 🙂 The light weight cotton dresses and matching briefs are perfect for the humid tropical weather.

Spring Swings - www.babyspringswing.com.auHere’s Cherry chillin’ in a Mickey Mouse bouncing swing. She loved it so much we had to buy her one! The swing packs up neatly into a little carry bag and only weighs 1.5 kg. Also available on their website www.babyspringswing.com.au

Coconut Kids –www.coconutkidsportdouglas.com.auHandcrafted clothes and accessories for babies and toddlers made from cute vintage inspired fabrics!  Spot the sleeping Cherry and her patient daddy in front of the amazing view! Coconut Kids have an online store too www.coconutkidsportdouglas.com.au

Little Love of mine – www.madeit.com.au/littlelomLittle Love of Mine makes new dresses and kids clothing from original vintage fabric. Aren’t these dresses stunning? Each is slightly different using pre-loved doilies and sewn to an original 1950’s pattern. That’s little Amélie modeling her strawberry dress in the background. We bought Cherry the blue one for next year. Cute! You can find a small range of Little Lom designs on madeit.com.au

Could not go past this adorable cherry dress for Cherry! I’m trying to be careful not to smother her in cherry stuff for obvious reasons!

Lastly, something for me…
Rainbow Splash Clothing by Dianna Blair- 0412 145 606Look what I found for Cherry and me! These rainbow garments look tie-die but they are actually hand painted by a gorgeous local, Dianna. I love it! Plus we match 😉

Here’s a little giveaway from Little Love of Mine.
Little Love of Mine - Paper doll Illustration by Mia Bowen of her sweet little daughter Amélie. Just leave a comment on this post to be in the running to win. Entries close midnight Saturday 29/10/11 and the winner will be emailed next Sunday. Good luck!
