Meet My Wardrobe

Isn’t it everyones dream to snap their fingers and have their wardrobe tidyied and sorted just like Mary Poppins singing A Spoon Full of Sugar? Well, guess what… My dreams just came true! Thanks to the lovely Raquel from Style Space, I’ve culled, folded, arranged and styled my space and finally feel inspired to dress ‘post-baby’.

We took before and after photos to share the magic with you.

Cherry and Me in the walk-in jungle before the transformation

Before

Organise your items so you don’t forget what you own. You want to be aware of all your options when you are pulling an outfit together.  Raquel, Style Space

Before

Take care of shoes, starting with how you store and organise them, to how often you condition the leather. A great pair of shoes is a true investment and if treat them with love, they will last you forever.   Raquel, Style Space

Before

After!
Organise your hanging space: colour-block, casual, dressy, dresses, shirts, skirts…
The options are endless, just make sure it works for you!

Another good tip to prevent pesky creatures like silverfish and weevils making your wardrobe their home, is to aerate the space at least once a week. If you don’t have a window in the space, keep the cupboard doors open for a few hours during the day as those nasties love the darkness. An old fashion pest prevention tip from my Nana Nina is to hang bunches of dried lavender in between your clothes and in your draws. What a pretty alternative to moth-balls!

Prioritise what you use regularly versus what you use rarely, so that items are easy to get to and your space is easier to keep organised – don’t make things difficult on yourself.   Raquel, Style Space

Earrings & Personal items maximise! Make sure you use every possible space that your wardrobe and be creative when doing it. This is a way to get more out of the space that you have and show your personality while doing it.  Raquel, Style Space

A clever way to display my forever growing jewellery collection

We also used removable stick-on wall hooks to hang hats, handbags and necklaces. A simple and practical idea to glam up any space!

Thank you Raquel for your helpful tips and incredible inspiration! I hope this post has gotten everyone in the mood for some Spring cleaning! If you’d like to get in touch with Raquel for some Style Space advice and perhaps a well deserved makeover, contact her via the Facebook page by clicking here. Happy Cleaning!

Cherry and I are regulars at Prahran Market. You’ll often see us there on Tuesday mornings in the courtyard when the baby animals come to visit. Last Tuesday I brought my camera along to share the fun!

Eating Out NY

Looking though the photos from our recent trip to NY, I realised we spent a lot of the time eating! Today I share with you some of the most memorable things we ate out in NY.

First, let me tell you about Katz’s Delicatessen. This institution is famous for their huge array of traditional Jewish style cured meats, pickles and sandwiches. A nostalgic porthole transcending me back to my Nana Nina’s kitchen table!

The Rueben - Corned beef, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese and Russian mustard, served on rye with a side of house-made pickles. You won’t understand until you’ve tried it!

This was quite possibly the BEST thing I ate on our entire trip!

A friend highly recommended we tried Shake Shack, so we headed there one night after a Broadway show. The queue was really long but moved very quickly. And let me tell you, it was worth the wait!

A classic cheeseburger topped with lettuce, tomato and ShackSauce washed down with a chocolate shake of course!

Man those fries were crunchy! Can’t stop thinking about them…

NY street hotdog… My tip is to GIVE THIS ONE A MISS! Nasty…

We loved the Pizza at Lombardi’s so much, we went back for more! By the way, we ordered a “small” with 1/2 peppers and meatballs & 1/2 spinach and Italian sausage. Bellissimo!

Ever heard of Korean Tacos!?! Strange yet amazing! We sampled Koran BBQ short ribs, spicy seared pork and grilled chicken tacos at Kimchi Grill, Brooklyn. Look out the the Kimchi Taco Truck on the streets of NY!

After a few days in NY, we were craving something a little more healthy. We came across a quaint little organic French cafe in Central Park called Le Pain Quotidien. The perfect spot for a refreshing glass of house-brewd iced tea or freshly made lemonade.

This joint was pumping so we had to go inside and see what all the fuss was about. Rice to Riches serves up the most unusual flavours of rice puddings!

We tried rocky road and chocolate hazelnut

Soft-serve dairy whip drenched in cherry topping served from a van on the streets of Soho

Three words… Deep. Fried. Oreos… Verdict? AMAZEBALLS!!! Golden crunch on the outside and soft, squishy cookie in the middle.

A cheeky choc-mint cupcake on the go at DC Cupcakes

And finally, a romantic last night with martinis and nibbles in the Mercer Hotel lobby!
