It seems Melbourne has been spoilt for choice lately with design markets and trade fairs popping up everywhere, showcasing our local talents. Last weekend I visited the ‘Big Daddy’ of Melbourne design events, Design Made Trade.
Design Made Trade was held at my absolute favourite expo venue, The Royal Exhibition buildings, Carlton.
Me at the Design Made Trade stand and Furnitex. Who could walk past this rainbow splashed wall by Rowena Martinich!
One of the first group stalls to pop out at me. I love these hanging pendants lights and perspex bowls by Lightly.
Polka-dot earrings and bubble necklaces by Victoria Mason
Yummy letterpress design by The Hungry Workshop
Moody ceramic lighting by The Mod Collective
Hand casted ceramic vessels by The Mod Collective
Notebooks, swing-tags, cards and other eco-friendly printed things by Mingus Designs
Stunning hand-made lampshades and vessels by Thread Architecture
OMG how cool is this bentwood chair by Thread Architecture!
My eyes almost popped out of my head when I saw this beautiful flower arrangement at the Surface by Belinda Christie stand!

Hi there! I love the fish or afternoon tea design…as much as Melbourne rocks, I’m a Tassie girl, and I don’t like octopusses, and the others are lovely, but not as lovely as the fish and tea set! Thanks!
Phoebe 🙂

Love the unique designs, will certainly jazz up my kitchen that’s for sure!
I’d love to trade up a tired old supermarket tea-towel (or three) for ANY of the elegant Kick and Screen Tea-towels… Instant kitchen renovation!

Elle, Where do you find out about all these great design shows? I am gutted that I am missing them all, but don’t know where to look. Can you clue a newbie in? What are your sources?
