This week’s blog post is brought to you by a 3-year-old boy called Tiger. He’s been obsessing over a picture of a Ladybird Cake he found in a vintage Cadbury’s Chocolate Cookbook from my grandparents. Yesterday, Daddy took up the challenge to recreate the masterpiece in our kitchen, with the kids, down at our holiday house. Here’s their step-by-step YouTube baking tutorial and recipe – Enjoy!

Well done guys, that’s a definite match – what a fabulous cake! Don’t you just love old cookbook recipes…
I love the different uses of ingredients. For example, they use margarine rather than butter! A bit of history and nostalgia! x
Awww, love how your family is involved with your blog! Love vintage recipe books. I have the “Women’s Weekly Cake Book” on my shelf and feel nostalgic just opening the cupboard door. Must actually re-create some just for fun! Love your (hubby’s) lady bird cake!
It was super nostalgic for me as it was my grandparents cookbook! A great way to keep memories alive! x
What a gorgeous post! I remember that ladybird cake from my own childhood.
I didn’t realise how popular this cake was until we posted it! How lovely! x
I made this very cake, 6 1/2 years ago, for my daughter’s first birthday! It was a hit!
Did you! What a small world! It actually tasted delicious too! x
