Eating Out NY

Looking though the photos from our recent trip to NY, I realised we spent a lot of the time eating! Today I share with you some of the most memorable things we ate out in NY.

First, let me tell you about Katz’s Delicatessen. This institution is famous for their huge array of traditional Jewish style cured meats, pickles and sandwiches. A nostalgic porthole transcending me back to my Nana Nina’s kitchen table!

The Rueben – Corned beef, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese and Russian mustard, served on rye with a side of house-made pickles. You won’t understand until you’ve tried it!

This was quite possibly the BEST thing I ate on our entire trip!

A friend highly recommended we tried Shake Shack, so we headed there one night after a Broadway show. The queue was really long but moved very quickly. And let me tell you, it was worth the wait!

A classic cheeseburger topped with lettuce, tomato and ShackSauce washed down with a chocolate shake of course!

Man those fries were crunchy! Can’t stop thinking about them…

NY street hotdog… My tip is to GIVE THIS ONE A MISS! Nasty…

We loved the Pizza at Lombardi’s so much, we went back for more! By the way, we ordered a “small” with 1/2 peppers and meatballs & 1/2 spinach and Italian sausage. Bellissimo!

Ever heard of Korean Tacos!?! Strange yet amazing! We sampled Koran BBQ short ribs, spicy seared pork and grilled chicken tacos at Kimchi Grill, Brooklyn. Look out the the Kimchi Taco Truck on the streets of NY!

After a few days in NY, we were craving something a little more healthy. We came across a quaint little organic French cafe in Central Park called Le Pain Quotidien. The perfect spot for a refreshing glass of house-brewd iced tea or freshly made lemonade.

This joint was pumping so we had to go inside and see what all the fuss was about. Rice to Riches serves up the most unusual flavours of rice puddings!

We tried rocky road and chocolate hazelnut

Soft-serve dairy whip drenched in cherry topping served from a van on the streets of Soho

Three words… Deep. Fried. Oreos… Verdict? AMAZEBALLS!!! Golden crunch on the outside and soft, squishy cookie in the middle.

A cheeky choc-mint cupcake on the go at DC Cupcakes

And finally, a romantic last night with martinis and nibbles in the Mercer Hotel lobby!
