Tassie Trip Part 2 – The Henry Jones Art Hotel

So last week I shared photos of our Romantic Weekend Getaway to Tasmania and our incredible day out at MONA. This week I want to show you where we stayed…

The Henry Jones Art Hotel

Henry Jones Art Hotel www.cherryandme.com Several friends recommended we stay here, and after our weekend away, I would recommend it too!  The perfect accommodation for a couples retreat to Hobart and MONA.

Henry Jones Art Hotel www.cherryandme.comThe hotel building used to be the original IXL Jam Factory and the architects have celebrated its rich history by “preserving” (excuse the pun) as many original features as possible

The next few images are artworks by Tasmanian artist Martin Walch, who photographed the abandoned jam factory’s eery interiors before the big hotel conversion. His stereophotographic installation is permanently displayed in the hotel in the Jones & Co. Foyer. The viewer can peer through wall mounted goggles and see the backlit images in what feels like 3D.

What a beautiful place!
